I think this was a worthwhile upgrade.  Also, now I don’t have to deal with an antenna trying to pull in channels, and I have ESPN so I can actually watch Monday Night Football if I want to.

Welcome to the dark side. Comcast sucks as a company but sometimes it’s the best solution.

Sorry but I’m still quite happy about this (upload is a bit slow tonight though) :

No cable for me though. I do have ESPN set up to run off my parents’ account if I ever need that.

All they have to do is suck slightly less than CenturyLink and I’ll be able to live with it.

The install took 5 hours. Why? Turns out our condo had never been wired for cable.

I could use those upload speeds right about now. I’m uploading a bunch of pics I use for work from my phone to a cloud file so I can finally replace my phone sometime soon.

I could have paid for more but really, we don’t need it. We just need enough that the both of us can stream without buffering.

I got tired of fighting with the antenna just to watch football every week. If we could get a reliable signal I wouldn’t have bothered. We have a whole ton of channels that we will probably never watch, but it was a good enough value.

Not bad speeds , costing you about $90/mo for interwebs and TV? Also, i s   Comcast still doing bandwidth caps? I remember when I lived in CO 6ish years  back , they had us at 250GB/mo.

Crazy. My up is only 10mbps, but the down is around the same (when it’s not too congested) . No option for more and no fiber available, though.

CenturyLink is actually disgustingly, bibl ically awful. My roommates and I had it   until halfway through quarantine when I tried to upload a 6 min video and it took an hour and a half. Checked later and we were getting 2 Mbps down, 0.07 Mbps up. Switched to Cox the next week.

I don’t know if they are or not, but we’re not likely to touch that anyway.

They screwed you on pings, you’re getting like 50% of the ones you got before

JFC. I was upset we went from 1000 gb/1000 gb down to 500/25.

I could not imaging less than 10 with all the streaming and gaming we do.

You know what video game I play most? I have a nearly 20-year-old copy of The Next Tetris for Playstation (note the lack of a number after that) that I play on our old PS3. That’s it. I really don’t like any of the modern games that much and while my husband likes them, he never plays them online.  I guess we’re weird that way.

Sheeeit. I remember when I first got an internet-capable computer in ‘99 and had dial-up. Back then I had a two-year-old laptop that was some sort of top of the line Compaq. I bought it used from a coworker and chances are it was probably stolen, seeing how he was a massive cokehead and a bit of a hacker.

Happens, not everyone plays online. My boyfriend and I game with friends online a lot so when we are in the same house we use a lot of the internet and then you’ve got phones always on the wifi and maybe others streaming a show in the other room, so we use a lot of internet. We both are also both in college right now so we have remote learning video classes most days with my mother teaching remotely as well. So yeah we have the demand for high speeds and wide bandwidth.

He taught me how to make CAT5/6 cable so I bought a reel and have been hardwiring everything I can, it has helped a lot.

That’ll definitely soak up the bandwidth for sure.

We’ve had this terrible internet for twelve years. I’ve been lobbying to switch for about that long. Fighting with the TV antenna was the bane of my existence. I’d be watching a game and have no signal problems for nearly the whole game, only to have it start to go out in the fourth quarter. So annoying. Plus there’s a lot of decent digital sub-channels we haven’t been able to reliably get  either, and now we can see them all. Comet is one of them. They love to show bad sci-fi and horror movies. They also love to rerun that Hercules movie with Lou Ferrigno, and I love to watch it.

A note on these speeds. My bro in law is all about maintaining his bandwidth. He found that his router was slowing things after a firmware update. He backdated it and it was faster again. But I’m sure he’s more susceptible to malware now, which is what the update was for.

So just keep an eye on the routers self updating things if your speeds down a bit

Yep, we had to do that a lot with the CenturyLink service.  It would mess up a lot.
